His career began by working in the Food & Beverage industry and quickly took a turn providing analytical lab services. His research begun by developing methods for the analysis of dietary supplements, and as a program manager worked with many clients to improve the quality & image of their products. His continued research into polysaccharides, fibers, flavonoids, vitamins, antioxidants, & beverage science. Over the next decade he worked with many instrument manufacturers in product development, technical support, validation, and method applications. In 2009, realizing there was a need for accurate nutritional testing of beer & wine, he founded and started building AAR (Advanced Analytical Research). Around the same time hops were emerging as a new crop in the Midwest and AAR Lab began work to also meet the demand for harvest timing & quality testing services. AAR Lab has just completed its 5th hops harvest season and now provides the most comprehensive line of hop testing services available. In the fall of 2019 AAR also introduced - Aroma Quality - (AQ), the world's first and most complete evaluation of hop aroma.
