In this test the total weight of Hops are defined by two components:
· Moisture
· Dry Matter
By drying the hops, water is removed. The remaining material is called "Dry Matter".
This test gives you the results for both moisture and dry matter. Dry matter is probably the most important indicators of "ripeness" based on variety you are growing or regional targets.
For example: in Wisconsin the target harvest "Dry Matter" range for almost all varieties falls between 22-28% Dry Matter.
Note: Ship wet hops samples 2-day or overnight.
Sample size needed: 1 oz. (30 grams) wet or dry
(half a sandwich Zip-Loc)
